Overview

Why engineers choose grey iron

Grey iron's flake graphite gives it good vibration damping, thermal conductivity and wear resistance, and it machines more easily than most ferrous materials. That makes it the default choice for housings, bases, pulleys, covers and brake components.

Our high pressure moulding line produces rigid, accurate moulds that keep wall thickness and machining allowances consistent across long runs, so parts drop into your fixtures the same way every time.

Capability

Why buyers choose our grey iron

Consistent moulds

High-pressure squeeze moulding gives uniform mould hardness and stable dimensions from the first piece to the last.

Controlled sand

Our sand lab tests GCS, permeability, moisture, clay and LOI daily, reducing sand-related defects.

Machining under the same roof

CNC, VMC and SPM machining plus powder coating, so you receive fit-ready parts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Call +91 88600 73338 or email sales@ferrotechalloys.com.

Which grey iron grades do you produce?

We regularly produce FG 200, FG 260 and FG 300 to IS 210, and FG 250 equivalent to EN-GJL-250. Other grades or customer specifications can be reviewed with your drawing.

What is the difference between grey iron and SG iron?

Grey iron has flake graphite, which gives damping, wear resistance and easy machining but low ductility. SG iron has spheroidal graphite, giving much higher strength, elongation and impact resistance. Our grey vs SG iron guide explains how to choose.

What sizes can you mould?

Castings from 0.5 kg to 200 kg, on a high pressure moulding line with 650 × 750 mm boxes and an APRA 300 line with 550 × 600 mm boxes.

Can you make the pattern?

Yes. Our in-house pattern design team reviews your drawing, designs gating and feeding, and develops the pattern before sampling.
